BACK to reviewing movies bitches! now that the summer is starting I think that it’s time to get back and write some reviews for the films that are coming during this summer and others one that I haven’t seen before.
Warning: It may contain some spoilers.
After 4 years and 5 movies during the lapse, the definitive superhero film has come “The Avengers” written and directed by Joss Whedon, is a fun summer movie, a first rate blockbuster.
"OK fellas to start this review I’ll explain the plot and later I’ll be starting with the bitching" - The reviewer
The film starts with Loki who in the end of “Thor” dissapears into the space and now he ends up with an alien race called Chitauris and he convince them to join him to conquer the earth, meanwhile Nick Fury is trying to find out what is happening to the Tesseract which is the cube from “Captain America: The First Avenger” and it’s seen in the post credits scene of “Thor” anyway something from it’s happening with the Tesseract and it happens to be that it works as a teletransporter device that brings Loki into the earth, so Loki starts manipulating S.H.I.E.L.D. agents including Dr. Erik Selvig (from “Thor”) and agent Hawkeye.
After that Nick Fury decides to start “The Avengers Iniciative” so that means reunite all the superheroes in the world and make them to try stop Loki from conquering the earth.
So that’s the basic plot, I have to say that after watching Iron Man 2 in 2010 I was dissapointed by what Marvel was trying to do but after seeing this movie I have to say that wow, awesome film, but like every movie it has it’s issues for example it complicates with the use of too many subplots like the one between Black Widow and Hawkeye, also the use of jokes is good in some parts, but it comes to a moment when it starts to harm the film, for a example there is a scene between Loki and The Hulk that has a very funny moment on it but it lose the seriousness of the situation and it makes me to look at Loki as a pathetic and goofy villain and not like the serious character that it’s.
I know that I’m starting to sound like a bitter person but it’s because the jokes are used in a bad way for example in “Iron Man” there are jokes but they’re used in the appropiate moments not like in this film.
Anyway, “The Avengers” is a great example of first rate summer entertainment that deserves to be seen.
Now I proceed to the “GOOD & BAD” points from the movie and of course my rating.
The GOOD: The performances, the last 30 mins of mind blowing action, the visuals and THE HULK.
The BAD: The weird pacing during the first act, the misplaced jokes, the useless villain, the excuse of the aliens as enemies and the use of too many subplots.
Rating: 4 stars out of 5 ****.
